Spring time is traditional trout time and that can be in both still and running water. April 22nd saw Wistlandpound fly-fishing club at Clatworthy reservoir where great sport was enjoyed from both boat and shore. Black and green lures worked well as expected with my five fish bag succumbing to the lure fished deep onĀ fast sink line. Several trout were landed topping five pounds with the best fish of day over 7lb. My best the handsome rainbow pictured at 5lb 8oz.
A few days later and its off to Dorset for a day on the Dorset Frome fishing the Dairy House Fishery. Unfortunately heavy rain on the previous days has swollen the river and colored the normally crystal clear water. Despite this I do manage a few casts late in the day. The wily wild fish I glimpse disappear into the slightly stained waters teaching me the importance of stealth and observation.
Nice to see you up and running with the blog. Shame about the Frome but bet John is very glad of the water. Heard Clatworthy had been fishing well with a few 20lb+ bags. Look forward to more of your adventures, Cheers, Nick.
