Moments etched upon the mind

In an angling lifetime there accumulates a montage of images collected from many days both beside and upon the water. Moments that remain etched upon the mind throughout ones life to be reflected upon as the seasons pass.
Dorsets spectacular coast
Drifting off the spectacular Dorset Coast beneath a blue cloudless sky a light rod in my hand. Suddenly there came that electrifying jolt through the line; followed by the pulsing battle as a black bream is brought protesting to the surface up through the clear waters beneath Colin Penny’s “Flamer 4”.
The bream its flanks of silver with patches of iridescent blue, a jewel to behold; after admiring briefly the fish is slipped back into the mysterious world from which it had come.
The first bream to visit Colin’s boat this season; a season that can only get better following months of adverse weather and the recent onset of that annual phenomena of May water, an algal growth that suppresses the fish appetite.
